Science

Science teaching at Hilltop Primary School aims to give all children a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge to help them to think scientifically, to gain an understanding of scientific processes and an understanding of the uses and implications of Science, today and for the future.

The science curriculum at Hilltop provides full coverage of the National Curriculum and builds both children’s substantive and disciplinary knowledge in a systematic, progressive, authentic and enjoyable way. We want our children to have no limits to what their scientific ambitions are.

All children are encouraged to develop and use a range of skills including observing, planning and investigating, as well as being encouraged to question the world around them and become independent learners in exploring possible answers for their scientific based questions.

STEM-based education at Hilltop, which includes science, has a focus on hands-on learning and real-world applications. It develops life-long skills such as curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication and collaboration.
