Computing

At Hilltop we follow the Purple Mash Scheme for Computing from the Early Years through to Year 6. It is a platform that provides fun, stimulating lessons which are based on the objectives outlined in the National Curriuclum.

At Hilltop, we recognise that physical computing plays an important role as a tool to engage pupils and as a strategy to develop pupils’ understanding in more creative ways. Purple Mash units are supplemented with opportunities for pupils to learn how to programme floor robots such as Beebots, Ozobots and Crumble Controllers.

Our Online Safety curriculum is delivered through progressive lessons (identified in the Purple Mash Online Safety progression document) and the PHRE curriculum.

Close links are made between other STEM subjects and opportunities are planned for the use of technology in Design and Technology, Science and Maths.
