Autumn

This term our topic is World War 2 - through the eyes of a child. To immerse the children in this topic, we will be reading 'Goodnight Mister Tom' and parts of Anne Frank's diary.

Both books are extremely moving and highlight the horror and futility of war. Although it's hard to imagine what life was like, we will be putting ourselves into the child's shoes and learning how to empathise with them through our reading and writing.

Our research homework project about WWII covers all aspects including rationing and evacuation. The children are finding this really enjoyable and have produced some wonderful work.

So far, we have participated in a Junior Citizen morning learning about ll aspects of safety inside the home and out. Our residential trip to Windmill Hill was a great success. It was fantastic to see the children becoming more independent and overcoming fears through some of the physical activities but most of all, everyone had lots of fun. Have a look at our photos to see what we got up to while we were away!
