Year 1 Bikeability - Balance bikes
10th December 2018
Dear Year 1 parents
Bikeability Balance: Hill Top Primary School
We are excited to tell you that we have booked a free Bikeability balance course for the children in year 1. This is a series of school based sessions that aims to achieve basic cycling balance for children. It involves fun games carried out on balance bikes (bikes without pedals) to develop handling and awareness skills.
Bikeability balance will provide your child with a positive early experience of cycling and help provide them with the skills they will need to take part in Bikeability level 1 and 2 which is delivered in year 6.
Training includes understanding the names of different bike parts, basic control skills including swerving and emergency stops. The course also offers guidance on riding etiquette when sharing a space with pedestrians. All balance bikes and safety equipment including helmets will be provided for your child.
Children in Bluebell, Daffodils and Lily class will be taking part each day for a small period of time on
