School Closure - January 2021
5 January 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this finds you and your family safe and well in these most difficult of times.
I am sure you are aware of the announcement last night that there will be a new national lockdown and this means all schools will be closed to all pupils except the children of key workers and vulnerable children. The Government has said they will review the situation towards February half term.
We are hugely disappointed that we have to close school and we understand the challenges that families will face during this second lockdown.
If your child is in the Key Worker group and you wish them to attend school you should have already registered this with us and we will have discussed whether we are able to offer them a place. We have made contact with those families where children are in the vulnerable category. If your circumstances change and you believe your child comes into the Key Worker category or vulnerable category, please contact us via the office email. Please be aware that there is limited capacity in these groups and the need for social distancing, smaller group sizes and other COVID mitigations means that places are restricted. If we have more pupils wanting places than we can safely accommodate we will have to prioritise who can attend.
Whilst school is closed, we will be providing remote teaching and learning for the children. Please see the information below.
For those pupils entitled to free school meals, we will be sending out arrangements shortly.
As you will probably be aware, we now deliver our remote learning through Google Classroom. The children will be familiar with this learning platform as they have been shown how to use it in school and have been completing their homework and class isolation work on it last term.
Just a few reminders:
-Daily learning will appear on your child’s Google Classroom Page every morning at 9.00am.
-These are pre recorded lessons (not Live) so they can be watched at a time that suits your family. If there are multiple siblings and one device, they may need to take it in turns.
-Class teachers will be monitoring the children’s work ensuring that they are logging on every day to complete the tasks.
-Class teachers will communicate with the children via the messaging function and will provide feedback on submitted work.
-Class teachers will monitor the year group email on a daily basis so if parents have any questions or need to contact the class teacher please do so through this email.
-If you are having trouble accessing Google Classroom for whatever reason, please contact the school office to let them know.
Whilst school is closed, if you have any questions or need any advice, please contact us via the office email and the office will pass your enquiry onto the best person to deal with it. Please email the Year groups email if you have any questions about home learning.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support and kind words.
