School is now Closed
Dear Parents, carers
You will be aware that schools has closed today. The Government has asked that parents keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for children who absolutely need to attend.
The Government has asked schools to provide care for a limited number of children who parents are critical to the Covid-19 response. They have created a list of who these ‘Key Workers’ are.
The Government has said that many of these Key Workers may be able to ensure their child is kept at home and every child that can be safely cared for at home should be. If a Key worker needs to be at work and does not have another parent / adult in the household who can look after their child / children while they are at work, we will be able to provide child care at school whilst the Key Worker is at work.
We have asked Key Workers to register with us and to let us know the days and times that they will need child care.
The Government is advising that parents should do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue the spread of the virus. They should observe the same distancing principles as adults.
We would also advise to continue encouraging hygiene precautions. This includes maintaining high levels of personal hygiene, regularly washing hands and following the Catch it, Bin it, Kill it advice when sneezing or coughing.
If a child or member of the household displays symptoms, the current advice remains that:-
if ANY member of the household is displaying symptoms - a new, persistent cough and/or a high temperature (37.8 degrees and above) - then ALL household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.
This applies to everyone, including Key Workers and their children / households.
We will be communicating with parents and children through the website and schoolbuddy as explained in the previous letters and will keep you updated as the situation changes.
All our staff at Hilltop would like to send our best wishes to you and your families and hope that you keep safe and well over the coming weeks.
