• Year 5 Summer 2016

This term our topic is 'Cycles of Life'. Click on our topic letter to see what we have been learning.

The term started with an exciting trip to Forest School. Here we got to build dens, light a fire, roast marshmallows, track animals, saw wood and generally have a great time. It was wonderful to get out and about in the woods. We learned a lot about nature, the environment and how to work as a team. We also loved our other trips this term: Tilgate Park (with a link to persuasive texts) and Ardingly Showground (for the 'Connect with the Countryside' experience where we met live animals and tasted yummy farm food).

Alongside these exciting trips, we have written our own Quest Stories, explaining how our hero faced many perils on their journey. We had a science based topic which helped us understand the Water Cycle as well as the life cycles of animals and humans. In DT we built bridges using our research and creativity skills, using food and recycled goods! Recorder continued all term with our final in July a roaring success. We also really enjoyed our Sports Afternoon and some of us were lucky enough to go to a special athletics event with lots of other schools at Crystal Palace Athletics Stadium! Year 5 is the best!!
