Spring

This term our topic is ‘Stories and Evolution.’ Click on our topic letter to see what we will be learning.

We will be reading the book ‘Skellig’ by David Almond as part of our learning in English. Skellig tells the story of Michael, a young boy, who discovers a strange creature in his garage. We will be using the text as a stimulus  to write in a range of different genres, from poetry to describe the creature Michael finds to diary writing recalling recent rather traumatic events in Michael’s life.

In our Art lessons, we will be learning to look at things more closely (a bit like the character Mina!) We will be making careful observations and creating detailed pencil sketches of feathers and beautiful water colour blue bottles. In science we will be learning about Evolution and Inheritance. This is a new topic and we are looking forward to building on our knowledge of the characteristics of living things. Did you know evolution is change over time and is the reason why we have so many species on Earth!
